With a relaxed, meadow theme this bohemian wedding was full of beautiful details and loving touches.

Australian-born bride, Bridget first excitedly contacted me in winter when her and British fiancé, Sam, had just got married. Yes, you heard me correctly; they were already newlyweds, but just to cover the formalities. For their real wedding was being planned in the form of a hand-fasting ceremony and a big party in early spring. This was to be my first hand-fasting too and I LOVE Spring, so my excitement was through the roof!

The groomsmen looked mighty fine in their country gent style apparel, whilst Bridget, looked simply beautiful in a bespoke tea-length, blush pink dress made by Brighton-based designer, Joanne Fleming Design. Her hair tousled with curls, Bridget clutched a pretty bouquet of pink spray roses and gypsophila arranged by Sam’s mum.

Before their ceremony and with a twist on the norm, the couple decided to have mulled wine and afternoon tea to warm the cockles of their guests before heading out into the fresh countryside air.

Bridget and Sam married on a gloriously chilly spring day in the middle of the East Sussex countryside. Their whole wedding ethos was about celebrating the nature surrounding them and of course, their love.

Luckily, they found Swallowtail Hill Farm where they could hold their hand-fasting ceremony in the orchard underneath a grand old oak tree surrounded by their loved ones. Everyone fittingly wore their best wedding wellies and guests snuggled beneath vintage blankets collected by the couple as the watched Bridget and Sam make their declaration of love for each other.

Whilst guests warmed themselves in the marquee, Bridget, Sam and I headed off for a mini adventure on the farm!

No, I promise you I’m not completely bananas. Swallowtail Hill Farm has these hidden gems, you see. Not only is it an eco-farm, lovingly and traditionally cared for, but it also allows a small number of very lucky guests to stay in either rustic wooden cabins or the cutest, dinkiest cottages on wheels that you have ever seen. So, we headed off to have a peek at the honeymoon suite a.k.a as Meadow Keepers Cottage complete with its own wildlife pond and outdoor log-fired shower…All perfectly placed in an away-from-it-all meadow. Bliss!

Just as the sun was beginning to set, we hiked back up the hill and joined guests who were being amazed by a quick-handed magician. Bridget changed into her gorgeous Vivienne Westwood dancing shoes and everyone sat down for a hearty hog roast dinner catered by Super Event.

Outdoor candles and flares lit, the orchard twinkled as some guests headed out for some night air and warmed themselves by the bonfire with bottles of real ale. The evening’s music soon began and the dance floor was soon filled. There was some pretty impressive dad-style dancing to be had too!
Bridget and Sam were such a warm and infectiously in love couple. It just beamed from them so much and I am so privileged to have been able to capture their day.
