Katy & Mus’ Rustic Spring Wedding at Ulcombe Village Hall, Kent Life
Springtime weddings always have a special kind of magic, and Katy & Mus’ wedding at Ulcombe Village Hall at Kent Life in Maidstone was no exception. With a rustic, floral, and vintage vibe (plus a few adorable animal guests!), their day was packed with love, laughter, and some seriously memorable moments.
A Wedding with Two Ceremonies
Katy & Mus embraced both their cultures beautifully by having not one but two wedding ceremonies. The first was a traditional English ceremony, heartfelt and full of emotion. Then, the energy shifted for their Sudanese ‘Jirtig’ ceremony – a vibrant, joyful tradition from Mus’ heritage.
With a quick costume change, the couple were dressed in rich reds and golds, ready for a celebration filled with traditional singing and dancing. The atmosphere was electric, with family and friends fully immersed in the music, movement, and meaning of the moment. Being in the middle of it all as a photographer was an unforgettable experience!
Unforgettable Moments & Personal Touches
Katy & Mus wanted their wedding to reflect their love of the outdoors and fun – and they nailed it! The setting at Kent Life, with its farm-style charm, provided the perfect backdrop. The rustic details blended seamlessly with the spring florals, creating a relaxed yet elegant feel.
And let’s talk about their guest appearance from a four-legged friend – a resident donkey made its way to the drinks reception, much to everyone’s delight! It’s little moments like these that make a wedding truly one-of-a-kind.
Oh, and we can’t forget one of the biggest surprises of the night—Katy’s word-for-word rendition of Dave’s song ‘Sprinter.’ She absolutely owned it, delivering every lyric with confidence and style. It was one of those moments that had everyone hyped up and will definitely be talked about for years to come!
Golden Hour Magic
One of my favorite parts of the day was stealing Katy & Mus away for their couple portraits in the farmhouse gardens at sunset. The golden light, the love between them, and the peaceful setting made for some truly magical shots. These moments of calm in a fast-paced wedding day are always so special, and their chemistry made capturing them effortless.
Capturing the Energy & Emotion
As a wedding photographer, I love to adapt my style throughout the day – playful with a little romance for the couple shots, documentary-style for the candid moments, and fun and energetic for the party vibes. Katy & Mus’ wedding had it all, and it was an absolute joy to capture.
Since their day took place during Ramadan, timings were key, making everything feel fast-paced but also incredibly exciting. The mix of cultures, traditions, and personal touches made this wedding stand out as a truly unique and love-filled celebration.
