Duncton Mill Wedding Photography | Déarbhaile & Matt

I adore shooting weddings. There are so many different styles, guests and couples that it’s always a fun job, full of anticipation which certainly keeps a wedding photographer on their toes! Déarbhaile & Matt contacted me about their wedding at Duncton Mill almost two years before their date and even then they knew from the off that it would be a real smorgasbord of themes loosely centered around a festival/garden party/fete/summer party vibe. Ooooh, now anyone who uses ‘smorgasboard’ and ‘festival/garden party/fete/summer party vibe’ most definitely will have me all excited!!!

I loved how totally chilled these two were about their wedding day, but also ‘on it’ in the most relaxed way. The morning’s bridal preparation started at The Spread Eagle in Midhurst surrounded by their absolute closest people and in the most relaxed way too before setting of to Duncton Mill near Petworth in vintage VW Campers and VW Beetle for their most beautiful nuptials.

This day was also very special because it was Déarbhaile’s birthday and as guests arrived a welcome sign made it very tongue-in-cheek and hilariously clear…’Welcome to Déarbhaile’s Birthday Party’!!! And what an incredible day it was set to be too!

Blue skies and glorious sunshine came out to play as Déarbhaile walked down the aisle with her parents to the Jurassic Park theme tune (yep, you read right!), just to ensure that romance and comedy played it’s part!!! This will tickle me forever! The couple’s close friend was celebrant for the ceremony which made it all the more special whilst also being nestled by the lakes in a stunning outdoor ceremony.

As guests ambled over to the otherside of the lake to THE most gorgeous Raj tent to get confetti ready, the couple had their very own boat row across the lake to meet their guests.

Déarbhaile and Matt wanted to use as much of the grounds at Duncton Mill as possible and it was fabulous because it meant guests could roam freely and just have fun. There was an ice-cream trike, wedding mini-golf complete with retro golfing visors, coconut shy, horseshoe toss and even a whiskey shack complete with armchairs, cigars and Irish whiskies – a nod to Déarbhaile ‘s roots.

And as if that wasn’t enough, after a relaxed and beautifully served meal (seriously, go check out the dribble-worth food photos!), the fun only continued with a VW Cocktail van, glitter bar, even more trips at dusk to the whisky shack and a right old dance up when the music got started.

Theirs was the most awesome wedding full of all the right things and crikey, did they just have the day that just suited them down to the ground.
Déarbhaile and Matt (although I think Déarbhaile might just say it was just her!) created a fun and relaxed day full of wonderful things and wonderful people. Lastly, make sure you take a visit to the photos of Matt’s grandaparents having a little moment – absolute couple goals! It makes my heart swoon at the love of so many years! I’d honestly do it all again in a heartbeat!
