Ashleigh & Paul’s Alice in Wonderland Wedding at Nonsuch Mansion

‘Both my Husband and I were not particularly comfortable posing for photographs, so it was really important that we found someone we felt relaxed with and could trust with such an important part of our day. We both felt she managed to tell a story about a couple’s wedding through details she captured and natural shots. Laura put us both at ease and totally understood the theme and feel of our wedding. Laura instantly felt like one of my oldest friends on the day. She was a lovely calming influence and knew exactly what to say when. All of our guests loved Laura and actually thought she was a family friend as she effortlessly worked the room and got everyone where she needed them. The pictures, well we are absolutely over the moon with them! I look at them almost every week and they take pride of place all over our house. We would have no hesitation recommending her to others.’
~ Ashleigh & Paul

Oh cripes! This one is an absolute humdinger of a wedding corker and every part of it makes me grin like the Cheshire Cat! Hmmm, it’s funny I should say that…
Nonsuch Mansion played host to Ashleigh and Paul’s Alice in Wonderland styled wedding and it could not have been a more perfect setting, a Georgian gem in manicured grounds. As I arrived some hours before the ceremony, I found Paul already suited and booted wondering around Nonsuch Park in a bid to quell his wedding nerves! Ashleigh had nestled in nicely within the bridal dressing room with her bridal party where she had opened the most wonderfully drawn and written Wonderland-inspired letter from Paul, quite the artist!
Ashleigh and Paul are Alice in Wonderland fans and this set the style of the day. I loved how they had intricately woven so many the elements of the infamous book into Nonsuch Mansion and around every corner there was something amazing. Not only that, but this super talented duo made most of it themselves including the fabulous table centrepieces which are awesome!
After an emotional ceremony in the Orchid Room, guests were treated to a sumptuous Mad Hatters Tea Party of flamingos, vintage crockery, giant chess board, mini pineapples nestled amongst flowers, lawn croquet, jam tarts and topsy turby Mad Hatters wedding cake – a delight at every turn!
When I had met Ashleigh and Paul for the very first time before their wedding, I remember Ashleigh saying to me, ‘Laura, the shoe shots – I really don’t get the shoe shots!’. So I explained that the detail shots are great because they are another jigsaw puzzle piece of your day – a day which goes by in such a fuzz and a whirr that it’s impossible as a Bride and Groom to take in every moment. I believe those detail shots all help to piece back the day and evoke memories. So it could be that those shoes took hours of trawling the internet, that you just so happened to fall into Jimmy Choo to try on the perfect dreamy pair of kitten heels, or that you just  had a fabulous girly day out with your mum or the girls that ended up in hilarity for whatever reason. You see, I’m all about capturing your wedding memories, but also reminding you of those that took you on the journey to your amazing day.
Ashleigh and Paul’s wedding was so so beautiful, made even more so by their absolute love and devotion for each other and that campers, makes me so very happy as a photographer!
